| The actual author of this work is unknown; it's an age-old fairy tale that is near impossible to trace to it's original source. But within it are Gothic themes that are just as timeless. Here is a perfect example of the combination of contrasting elements that make up Gothic literature. It is a near-perfect blend of romance and horror, two of the main characteristics of Gothic fiction.

| The first Gothic novel, at least the first one to refer to itself as one. Written in 1764, it has within it several examples of Gothic literature, including many standards still upheld to this day. The title itself is suggestive of a stereotypical gloomy atmosphere, and there are many instances within the text. Definitely required reading.

| Vent at your executioners, uh, I mean reviewers. If you believe something was unjustly critiqued, bring it up here. Offer up evidence for the contrary, and try to persuade the other members of your innocence. Uh, I mean, writing prowess.
