This is a poem I wrote about five years ago, from the point of view of Frankenstein's monster.
Unloved by man
I’ve done all I can
To live on in this world, alone
But when in my sight
I see two men fight
It sickens me to the bone
It saddens me
To be forced to see
The seeds of hate man has sown
They’ve been given a gift
But they’ve created a rift
With all this evil they condone
They destroy their gift with war and hate
They’ve caused this rift with church and state
They can not see
How much better they’d be
If they were just a bit like me
Because I, unlike them
I cherish each breath
And I don’t wait for death
Because I, unlike them
Want to live
